The Allied Trusts are primarily smaller trusts and while some have specific mandates, the rest are quite general and broad-based in their approach to grant making. These Trusts are administered by Sir Dorabji Tata Trust.

Grants are made across the five sectors of Management of Natural Resources, Livelihood, Health, Education and a range of issues covered as Social Development Initiatives. These grants contribute towards nation building and pioneering new ideas that have a far-reaching and beneficial impact on society.

This Trust was established in 1944. The institutional grants here too, focus on overall developmental issues with the same program mandate as Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. The JRD Tata Trust also gives a substantial number of individual medical and educational grants.

The JRD and Thelma J Tata Trust was established in 1991 by JRD Tata with the purpose of “promoting the welfare, education, health, rehabilitation and generally the uplift of the women of India, particularly of those who are disadvantaged or oppressed and of children under their care.” In an attempt to further sharpen its focus, the Trust is looking at up-scaling programs that empower women and address the issue of human rights of both women and children.

J N Tata Endowment is the first Trust established by the founder, Jamsetji Tata, in 1892. This Trust provides loan scholarships to a large number of deserving individuals for pursuit of higher studies abroad. Over one hundred students are selected every year as J N Tata Scholars from all over India. They have included many prominent academics, scientists, economists and scholars in the past such as K R Narayanan the former President of India and Dr Jayant Narlikar, the eminent astro-physicist. The Lady Tata Memorial Trust was established by Sir Dorabji Tata in 1932 in memory of his wife, Lady Meherbai, who died of leukaemia in 1930, at the age of 50.

The Trust spends four-fifths of its income on international research, and an International Advisory Committee, based in London, invites applications for awards for the support of research on leukaemia worldwide. The Trust also supports Institutional Research carried out by recognized Indian Institutions, research laboratories and leading scientific/medical centres doing research work in the diseases of the blood, with special emphasis on leukaemia research.

The Trust was set-up in 1932 and grants scholarships to young Indian women graduates of recognised Indian universities for pursuing higher studies abroad in the field of social work and public health.
